How much do you know about Chinese traditional culture?

1. Show some pictures to the students such as: dragon dance, Chinese opera, chopsticks, Chinese knot, Chinese paper cut and Chinese kung fu.

2. Get them to guess what they are.

3. Encourage the students to describe them and fill in the black.

Step II Presentation

Free talk

1. If your foreign friend asks you for suggestions on his/her travel plan in China, what will you advise him/her to see and where will you advise him/her to visit?

Kevin, a British exchange student, is asking Millie for her suggestions on his travel plan.

Listen to the tape and answer the following questions:

1). Where does Millie suggest visiting first?

2). What special things can we see if we are

in Beijing?

Step III Practice

1. Work in pairs and give your own ideas about Kevin's travel plan.

2. Use the conversation in Part B as a model.

Step IV Listen and read

1. Tell the students that Eddie and Hobo are visiting the Great Wall.

2. Get the students to listen to the tape and find out what happened.

1)What happened to Hobo’s feet?

2)What was he doing then?

3)What did Hobo advise Eddie to do?

4)What was Eddie’s decision?

3. Get the students to read and practice the dialogue and then act the dialogue out.??

Finish the exercises in Part A.

Talk about the places of interest in China.
