二、教材分析

The theme of the unit is what happiness is to you. Reading part is an interview from a TV programme about the search for happiness. The host is interviewing a doctor named Dr Brain about happiness. Dr Brain took the gymnast Sang Lan as an example to show how people can find happiness even during times of a personal catastrophe.

三、学情分析

The students are in senior two. The students in senior two are full of curiosity and have a strong thirst for knowledge. Their physical and mental development has been mature. They have the ability of independent exploration and analysis. Therefore, according to students’ development characteristic the teacher should use more intuitive ways to arouse students’ interest and curiosity and provide students more chances to explore and analyze the article. The students in senior two begin to think about life and emotion. The theme of happiness can cause students’ interest and make students have a proper emotional attitude and values. The students in senior two have the ability of cooperation. The teacher should use give them more chances to cooperate and communicate by designing group work. Most students in our school have the poor basic skills and ability in English learning. They are weak in oral expression. In this teaching designing I pay more attention to explain the profound things in a simple and progressive way.

四、教学目标

1.知识与技能目标

(1) Make sure that student understand the text..

(2) Learn about the gymnast Sang Lan’s experience and attitude towards happiness.

(3) The students can retell Sang Lan’s experience with the help of thinking axis.

2.过程与方法目标

(1) Improve students’ communicative and cooperative abilities by group work.

(2)Improve students’ ability in solving problems by designing different learning tasks.

(3) Set the scene that students are familiar with to help students learn.

3.情感态度与价值观目标

(1) Students can describe their own understanding of happiness.

(2) Have the proper attitudes towards happiness.

(3)Learn to be optimistic even when facing difficulties in life.

五、教学环境与准备

1.A classroom with seewo whiteboard.

2.Make a seewo whiteboard courseware.

3.Download a video about Nick Vujicic and some needed pictures from the internet.

六、教学过程

Step1. Lead in

1.Have a psychological test about students’ happiness index.
