Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Greeting and Lead-in
Greet the whole class as usual.
Let students look at the title of this unit--A taste of English homour. Ask students the meaning of this title.
Step 2:Warming up
Show two jokes to students and ask them why the jokes make people laugh, then put forward to the concept of “ punchline”.
Let students think about the question “how many types of humour do you know?”, ask them share their opinion and let them see the pictures in the screen to conclude the types of humour and classification of verbal humour and nonverbal humour, also their representatives.
Step 3: Pre-reading
Give the brief introduction of the Charlie Chaplin, show students the typical plot of the movie the gold rush..
Step 4: Skimming
Ask students listen to the tape then fill in the blanks to give the main of the passage:
