The unit I’m going to talk about is taken from Go for it, Grade 8 Book 1. The contents of the lesson is the last period (3a-4) in Section B of Unit 4 What’s the best movie theater?

The lesson is focus on the topic about your town. Students are going to use the use comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs to discuss the cities and the best places or the best things in our town.

2.The status and role of the teaching materials

This is the last period in this unit. It is a writing lesson. It’s really important position of this unit. The writing task is connected with Section A. It’s the extension of part A. The students will use the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs to discuss the cities and the best places or the best things in our town.

【Analysis of Teaching Objects】

My students are from Class 2 Grade 8. They are full of curiosity. they enjoy expressing their own ideas and sharing the feelings with their companies. Most of the students in my class are active, but some of them are not confident enough in using the second language. While others are really shy and quiet. And these students are always afraid of speaking in public. According to these, I pay more attention to students’ characters and difference to design this lesson.

This is the last period of this unit, the main task is to let the students to introduce their town. Because they have learned the comparative of adjectives in Unit 3, and they also learned the superlative of adjectives in the first- third period in Unit 4. So it’s not difficult for them to write the passage.

【Teaching aims】

According to the students＇background knowledge?and cognition level, I identified three teaching aims:

1.Knowledge aims: (1).Can use the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs correctly .e.g. good, creative, crowded, fast, quietly…

(2).Can finish the exercises in 3a and 3b.

(3). Can introduce some of the best places/things in our town

2. Ability aims: (1). Can use comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs to discuss the cities and the best places or the best things.

(2). Can introduce the best places and things and why.

(3). Can introduce the best places or things about our town.

3. Moral aims: To educate the students to study harder and make our town better and better
