2. Discuss and come up with some ways to save the endangered animals.

Emotional Aims:

It’s our duty to save the endangered animals.

Teaching Procedures:

Step 1 Warming up

Free talk : T ask Ss which animal do you want to visit. The students talk about their plans and the reasons. (Aim: Arouse the students’ interests in learning.)

Step 2 Lead-in

Guessing game: T give Ss some tips and Ss guess what Leon’s favorite animal is according to the tips. (Aim: Review the last lesson and lead in the new lesson.)

Step 3 Reading

The first reading --- scan and match the main ideas of each paragraph.

The second reading

Paragraph 1&2

Skim and fill in the information card of Lin Wei.

Scan and answer the question:

What about the pandas when they see Lin Wei,why?

Paragraph 3

Scan and choose Pay attention to the numbers in the paragraph and make the best choice.

Sum up Why are pandas endangered?

Paragraph 4

Skim and complete the form: How do they save the pandas?

Step 4 Discussion

Ss have a discussion in their group : What else can we do to save the endangered animals? Then share the ideas in the class.

Step 5 Emotional education

Listen to Leon’s travel diary and know more about how to save the endangered animals.

Step 6 Homework

Review what we have learned today and read the passage again, then complete the passage.
