教学过程

Step1 Lead-in

Greet the class as usual and play a guessing game —— give students some words and ask them according to these words guess what they are.

Step2 Presentation

1.Play a video about pandas for students and let them think about this question:

What are the pandas doing in the video?

2 .After enjoying the video ,ask the class: Do you like animals? Do you want to know more about pandas?

Then ask the class open their books and listen to the tap ,read this article by themselves.

Teach activity 2b

Read out the reading strategy for this unie.Explain it in more details and make sure students understand the difference between “reading for meaning” and “reading for details”.

Tell the class there are 4 numbers in the article ,ask them to find out what the numbers 10, 12, 200 and 20000 mean.

Give students three minutes to explain the meaning of these numbers.

After that ,ask students to read the passage carefully to get the main idea.

Give them several minutes to do this work.

Step 3 Practice

Teach Activity 2c.

Give the class two minutes to find out the answers from the article.

Teach Activity 2d

Lead students to read the instruction to know what to do in this activity and how to do it.

Then, give students three minutes to complete the sentences using the information from the passage.
