Ⅲ、Teaching steps:

(Ⅰ). Warming- up

Help the students revise Chinese table manners according to the pictures of having dinners.then the students think about the western table-wares according to a picture. (students say the cultures of table manner freely, and they can add more about it,and prepare for comparing the differences between French and Chinese table manners.)

(Ⅱ).Lead-in

The students watch a short video about French table manners, try to understand the short video and then have them say some table manners in France. ( Prepare for reading and have them know that ‘when in Roman, do as the Romans do’)

(Ⅲ).Reading

The teacher introduces a Chinese girl called Lin Yue, she is in France as an exchange student now,let us read the letter and know about her situation in France.

1. Fast reading

First, listen to the tape and read fast, try to find out the answers to the questions.

1. Why is Li Yue in France?

2. What is the biggest challenge she is facing?

(1).Read the first paragraph and find out the topic sentence and try to draw a mind-mapping.

. Read the first paragraph again, and fill in the blanks.
