该句中的a lot相当于a lot of things。a lot也可以用其他一些词代替，表示不同的程度。如much (a lot), a little, little, anything, something, nothing, everything等。
He knows a lot about me. 他了解很多有关我的情况。
We don’t know much about that country. 我们对那个国家了解不多。
注：类似的短语还有say something about…（说说有关）, tell us a lot about…（给我们讲许多有关）,think much about…（考虑了许多有关）,ask something about…（问了一些有关）等。

to write为不定式作后置定语，一般指一个尚未发生的动作。
Eg：I have a lot of work to do.

【注意】不定式做定语时，须放在被修饰的名词或代词之后，不定式常和它修饰的词有动宾关系；因此，如果这个不定式是不及物的，它后面就应有必要的介词。
