Important Items:Grasp the usage of the mastery words and the phrases .

Difficult Items:1.Use the phrases and the new vocabulary to express without mistakes .

2.Use the new vocabulary to describe the matter happened around them .

Teaching Steps

Step 1:Warming up

Show the two questions on the slide , and encourage students to discuss the questions . List the words students gave to talk about the ways to school. Then lead students to read the words more .

Teacher:How do you get to school ? How do you stay safe when you ride a bike to school ?

Students: I walk to school .I stay safe by looking around while I walk .

……

Step 2:Pre-reading

Ask students to read the text as quickly as they can , and underline the words or phrases they can’t understand . Help the class to pronounce the words correctly and know the meaning of the new vocabulary .

Step 3:While-reading

Ask students to read the lesson and try to do Exercise 1 on Page 39. Then check their work with the whole class . Help them correct the mistakes they made .

Ask students to practise reading the text ,and get some to read it in front of the class if time permits .

Step 4:Listening

Lead students to listen to the audio and try to finish Let’s Do It ! NO 2.Make sure the class just listen to the listening material (My Helmet Saved My Life) at the first time , then play the audio a second time and the students complete the exercise .At last , check the answers as a class.

Step 5:Retelling the story

Ask students to retell the story according to the outline below.

On a beautiful fall day , …out riding …rode over the hole … went down on his right side …his head …couldn’t get up…so terrible that …again …were bleeding …a stranger … drove him …Thank goodness, his helmet saved him.

Step 6:Exercise

Ask students to look at PPT and try to finish the following exercises ,then help them get correct answers to the questions .
