Step 1 Lead-in

Greeting.

The teacher introduces the title of Module 5 “Shopping” by presenting the first scene of the drama.

Step 2 Pre-listening

The teacher introduces words, such as “supermarket” and “biscuit” in the second scene of the drama.

The teacher introduces words, such as “market”, “lemon” and “strawberry” in the third scene of the drama.

The teacher introduces sentence patterns, such as “What can I do for you?”, “What color do you like?”, “What size do you take?”, “How many/much would you like?” and “How much is it/ How much are they?” in the fourth scene of the drama.

Pair-work: Students work in pairs to make up a dialogue by using the “script”——sentence patterns. One is the shop worker and the other is the customer.

Step 3 While-listening

Students listen to the first dialogue between Lingling and Betty. And they complete two tasks.

Where are they?

In the supermarket.

In the market.

In the clothes shop.

Fill in the blanks to complete the table.
