(2)在post-reading环节让学生根据提示词和图片谈论中西方的文化差异, 引导学生进行思考和输出,进而实现思维品质的提升。

Lead-in

(1 min 40s) Let students guess the good news the teacher has heard. Then the teacher introduces the phrase “have a fox’s wedding”. Finally ask students if they know this phrase has another different meaning in English.

1.Students guess the good news about Tang Yan and Luo Jin’s wedding and they don’t know the phrase has another different meaning in English. 1. Letting students guess what the good news is quickly grasps the attention of students and arouse their interest. And the phrase”have a fox’s wedding” is closely related to the following video.

Pre-reading(9 mins) 1.Ask students to watch the video and find out the answer to these questions.

Q1: What does “have a fox’s wedding” mean?

Q2: How many kinds of animals can you see ? And what are they ?

Guide students to find that these four expressions show the same meaning: sunshower. Therefore pose the question” Can the same animal express different meanings?”

Ask students to match expressions about animals with pictures. Then the teacher explain them one by one.

Lead students to learn the meaning of two new words “positive”,“negative”and”consider” by doing the multiple choice. Finally guide students to perceive that dogs have negative meanings in certain contexts.

1.Students watch the video and find out the answer to these questions.

2.Students think actively about the teacher’s another question:” Can the same animal express different meanings?”

3.Students match expressions about animals with pictures.

4.Students know the meaning of two new words “positive” and “negative” by doing the multiple choice and perceive that dogs have negative meanings in certain contexts. 1. Playing the video which is about animals and sunshower lays the groundwork for the question: Can the same animal express different meanings? And that is the topic of today’s lesson.

Showing students questions before the video helps students focus their attention and greatly improve their efficiency while watching the video in class.

3&4. Presenting some expressions about animals not only broadens their knowledge of animals but also helps them to learn the new words”positive” ,”negative” and “consider” through context. Therefore, the dog is naturally introduced in this part and will be further elaborated during the next stage.

(22 mins)1.Show Task 1 to students: Read para.2 carefully and find out answers.

Q1: Can you give more examples which have negative meanings of dogs?

Q2: Does the word “dog” have positive meanings? If yes, give some examples.

Then match phrases with its Chinese meaning and explain them in English.
