Step 1 Lead-in

Introduce myself

Good morning, boys and girls. Let me introduce myself, first. My name is Zhang Wenwen, I come from Xinyi City and I live in Suining now. I like dancing, sports and taking photos. I have a photo here, let me show it to you, please.

Introduce our school football team

T: Do you know them?

T: Yes, this is our school football team, the boys are the football players. I have more photos about them, please enjoy them. What do you think of them?

T: Excellent! They won many awards. The first prize; the second prize and the first prize. We call them Warwolves, they are members of Warwolf Club.

3. My favourite football player.

T: Among them, there’s a boy who is my favourite football player. Do you know? Right. He is Chen Yangyang. He’s 16 years old, he’s a member of Warwolf Club, he looks handsome and strong, he likes listening to music.

Read the article and find out the important phrases and sentences, then try to explain them.

Divide the students into two groups; the first group discusses paragraphs1-2 and the second group discusses paragraphs3-4

Encourage students of Group One to explain the language points like these: favourite (like best), a new member of, Huanghe Football Club, he looks strong and plays football very well.(look+adj./play…well)
