Teaching procedures

Step 1: A word game

The word “amazing” is shown on PPT and the teacher asks what this word’s last letter is (which is “g”). Then asks the students to think of a new adjective with the first letter being “g”.

Purpose: Through the word game, the students are motivated to review quickly the adjectives learned before, which leads to this class’s topic.

Step 2: Describe animals

A rabbit’s picture appears and the teacher asks the students to use adjectives to describe its ears and tail, and then asks them to say the sentences in another way. After the picture of a rabbit, students are going to finish sentences about a tortoise and a swan. .

A rabbit has long ears. A rabbit’s ears are long.

A rabbit has short tail. A rabbit’s tail is short.

A rabbit’s fur feels soft.

A tortoise’s shell feels hard.

When a swan grows up, it becomes beautiful.

Step 3: An adjective’s position + practice

Based on the above sentences, the students are encouraged to find out an adjective’s position.

“We can put an adjective before a noun or after a linking word.”

After knowing this, students have three tasks.

Task 1: put words in the right order. They right sentences are:

Birds make nice sounds.

Dogs are clever and friendly.

Goldfish are quiet and easy to look after.

Polar bears have thick fur to keep warm.

Task 2: fill the blanks about animals

What a naughty dog it is! It always tears books to pieces (撕碎).

Goldfish are very quiet. They don’t bark or miaow. Just bubble, bubble...

We say ants are strong because they can lift things much heavier than themselves.

Task 3: complete 2 passages about pets

I have a ____ cat. She likes to run after balls. When she gets ____, she sleeps anywhere. She miaows when she is _____.

My parrot is a ____ friend of mine. He is very ____, and he can repeat my words. He says “Hello!” when I come back home. He is ____ all the time.

Step 4: Know indefinite pronouns
