The analysis of students

1. The students have learnt some animals including wild animals before. They can name some of them, but there are still some wild animals they don't know.

2. Some of them have known that more and more wild animals are facing serious problem in the wild. As middle school students, they should know the importance of protecting wild animals and try their best to protect wild animals from now on.

Main points:

words, phrases and expressions concerning wild animals

Words: wild; free; dish; pity; die; giant panda

Phrases: no way; have/take pity on; in fact

Sentences: They may become dishes on the table anytime.

Could you please not eat them?

I may die without them

Difficult contents:

1) to describe wild animals and express the reasons for favourite wild animals.

2) Role-play the conversation between Eddie and Hobo with emotion and feelings.

Teaching process:

Step1: Warm-up

T: ? Have a free talk with students:

Did you have a good weekend? S: Free answers

Did you go to Suzhou Zoo? S: Free answers

I took my daughter to Suzhou Zoo. She really enjoyed herself. Do you know why?

S: Free answers

Because she saw a lot of wild animals.

Do you know these animals? (Point to the wild animals with red circle in the pictures.)

Design purpose: Try to get students interested and involved in this new lesson by answering some easy questions with some pictures of my daughter and wild animals.

Step2: Lead-in

Watch a video of wild animals made by myself and invite the students to watch and count or name

as many wild animals as they can. Then they work in a group and share their answers with each other.

T: Who can tell me some wild animals?

S: Their own answers.

T: Well, do you want to know more wild animals? OK, now let’s enjoy a video. While you are

watching, try your best to remember as many wild animals as you can.
