Step 1 Lead-in

Show a picture and have a free talk with Ss.

1.What are they doing?

2. Do you like travelling/traveling?

3.How do you feel when you go on a trip?

4.When will people go on a trip?

T: Most of you love travelling. Eddie and Hobo love travelling too. They’re planning a holiday now.

【设计意图:通过图片导入本单元的主题Travelling,Free talk 与学生交流,激发学生的兴致;然后过渡到Eddie和Hobo的出游计划,引出课本漫画部分的内容。】

Step 2 Presentation

1.Watch the video and answer the questions.

(1) Where is Eddie going? (He is going on a trip to South Hill.)

(2) Does Hobo want to go too? (Yes ,he does. He wants to join Eddie.)

(3) Will Eddie have a happy holiday? Why?(No, he won’t. Because he has to carry a heavy bag.)

2. Read the dialogues together, pay attention to the pronunciation and emotions.

Step 3 Practice

1.Read the dialogues in pair and act it out.

2. Read the short passage and fill in blanks.

Eddie is going on a __trip___ .Hobo thinks it must be fun and wants to _join___ Eddie. They will go _out_ for a few days .So Hobo is so _excited____ and he __gets___ everything .But Eddie won’t have a happy _holiday____ because he has to _take/ carry__ Hobo’s heavy bag!
