To analyse and understand the text by wh-question.

Teaching aids: blackboard, PPT, video, picture

Teaching procedures:

Step 1. Leading in (4mins)(Enable the students to get down to the topic quickly and arise their attention and interests in the class.)

Introduce the topic of “The Special Olympics World Games” by playing the music vide of “Fly” and let students answer the question— What can you see in the vide?

Show the logo of “Special Olympics” and the picture of “athletes” and explain the meaning of the two words.

Show three pictures of different kinds of sports games and tell students the difference between them.

Olympics: a sports event for athletes around the world

Paralympics: a sports event for athletes with physical disabilities

Special Olympics: a sports event for athletes with intellectual disabilities

Step 2. Pre-reading (2mins)(Let the students focus on the key points of the text )

Let students look at the title of the text and ask the question—What do you want to know according to the title?
