Pre-reading

(Train the students to learn to get the meanings of the new words by the context.)

1)Read a story about a boy called Su Fang who was an athlete in the 12th Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai in 2007.While listening, try to guess the meanings of the new words according to the context.

Su Fang was born with intellectual disabilities.He wanted to be an athlete and take part in the Special Olympics World Games.The Special Olympics World Games give chidren and adults with intellectual disabilities a chance to show their skills to the world.His mother expected him to be a confident person.It was necessary for him to get some training before the Games.It was hard for him but he never gave up.With the help of his coach, he won a gold and a silver.His coach helped him achieve his dream.
