Purpose

1.Warm-up and lead-in

Show some pictures of Marie Curie and ask :

a. Who is she?

b. What do you know about her?

Look at the pictures and try to say something about Marie Curie.

To lead to the listening material.

2.Pre -listening

1. T:Millie is making some notes about Marie Curie for her presentation. Ask a student to read the information about Marie Curie at the top of the page.

2. Ask students to raise their hands if they have any question .

3.Explain to students that they will not be able to find all the information they need to complete the notes in Part A1 from the profile. However, they should try to find as much information as they can . Tell less abled students that they can find the answers to notes.1,2,9,10,11,12 and 18 in the profile.

1.A student read the information about Marie Curie at the top of the page.

2.Students can raise their hands if they have any questions.

3.Students look at the information and go through Part A1,and try to find as much information as they can .

To help students learn about the information about Marie Curie and prepare for the listening part.
