Analysis of the teaching material:

The reading material is taken from the film Kung Fu Panda, which is popular with students. It focuses on the inspiring story about how Po turns his dream into reality. In this class, the target language is set in the vivid situation of the complete interesting film plot,which motivates students to explore the grammatical rules with great interest. Meanwhile, I combine the film plot with grammar and then pick out some ordinary sentences and ask students to turn them into the advanced target language related to adjectives ending in -ing and -ed and pay attention to the application of grammar and language. Using the task-based teaching method, independent exploration and cooperative group learning method, we can expand the language input and output of students.

Analysis of learners:

Students in Senior One have already acquired some knowledge about adjectives ending in -ing and -ed. However, they haven’t learned related sentence patterns systematically. So they may have difficulty in telling the differences between adjectives ending in -ing and -ed and applying them to actual practice. Besides, as to some students who are not good at English ,the grammar seems far from reality and boring ,so the teacher plans to set the grammar in the complete interesting film plot to get them involved in exploring the grammar rules in class actively. Last but not the least, as fresh senior high school students, after learning the reading part My First Day at Senior High ,they look forward to the new life at Senior High ,have their dreams and are eager to realize them . What they need most is a big dream connecting their dreams with China dream as well as the spirit to realize it, as Po ( the main character in Kung Fu Panda )shows.

Enable the students to tell the differences between adjectives ending in -ing and -ed .

2) Enable the students to know about the sentence patterns related to adjectives ending in -ing and -ed and learn to use them properly .

Ability aims

1) Help the students learn how to use adjectives ending in -ing and -ed properly.

2) Develop the strategies of memorizing and using the grammar skillfully in daily life.

3)train students’ divergent thinking(发散思维); convergent thinking(聚合思维)critical thinking and creative thinking.

Emotional Attitude and value objectives:

Get students to further the understanding of Po’s spirit that no matter how hard it is , as long as you follow and fight for your dream ,your dream will surely come true .

Enable students to enlarge their knowledge and broaden their views, having a good knowledge of China dream and amazing China.Meanwhile, enable students to connect their dreams with China dream and realize that not only should we have the belief , but also we should take action right now to realize our dreams and China dream.

Teaching important and difficult points

1)To learn some important grammatical rules, that is , the differences between adjectives ending in -ing and -ed and related simple and complex sentence patterns.

2) To get Ss to learn Po’s spirit to realize their dreams and learn about China dream and amazing china and what to do with China dream .

3)To let Ss grasp some skills and strategies and accomplish certain tasks.
