2. Ability Objectives

(1) Enable students to predict the passage according to the background information;

(2) Enable students to learn to skim passages for main ideas and to scan for specific details;

(3) Enable students to express, communicate, cooperate and self-think.

3. Moral Objectives

(1) Help students to learn that it is important for us to choose healthy food;

(2) Help students to develop their own healthy diet;

(3) Help students to develop the habit of exercise.

II. Important Points

1. Master two important reading skills—skimming and scanning;

2)Cultivate students' healthy lifestyle.

III. Difficult Points

1. How to analyze the text and grasp the main idea of the text;

2. How to skim the supported idea of each paragraph;

3. How to scan passage 2 to find specific information to answer questions.

IV. Teaching Methods

1. Task-based Language Teaching: Silent reading, Reading aloud, Fast reading, Skimming and Scanning; and Communicative Language Teaching: Asking and Answering, Discussing.

2. Teaching Aids: a projector and a computer, a blackboard.

V. Teaching Procedures:

Step 1.Revision and leading-in

Purpose:To let Ss review what had learnt in the last period and lead them to the new content.

1.Ask Ss the following question:

??Do?you still remember the words and expressions connected with illness? For your reference:??flu,get/catch?a cold,toothache,unhealthy,etc.

1.Do you rarely get colds and flu?

2. Do you eat at least three portions(指食物的一份) of fruit and vegetables a day?
