1). Compare the developing countries’ life with the developed countries’ life.

2). Analyse the problems developing countries face and work out solutions to them.

3)Analyze the data and have the students come to the conclusion that something must be done to help the poor.

1)The rich countries should help the poor ones to improve their living conditions.

2)Develop students’spirits of cooperation and teamwork.

Reading strategies:

With the guidance of teacher,students are able to:

know the structure and the main ideas of the passage.

Use different strategies to get different information.

Students analysis:

My students are at the second term of senior one,They have adapted to this new teaching and learning style, some of them can take an active part in the class. They show great interest in English.With the help of teacher, they are always willing to cooperate with the teacher and one another. However, others are still poor in spoken English, their vocabulary is limited. So it is difficult to compare the things from different aspects. And they know almost nothing about the Human Development Report , therefore it is difficult for the students to talk about it freely.

Teaching important points:

1) Grasp the important expressions in this period.

2) Make comparisons of the developing countries’ life and the developed countries’ life.

Teaching difficult points:

Analyse the problems developing countries face and work out solutions to them.

How to enlarge the students’vocabulary and give opinions.
