5. To raise students’ interests in chinese culture

Teaching key points（教学重点）:

⒈ To make the students understand and grasp the vocabulary and knowledge related to great inventions and great philosophers

⒉ To enable the students to know how to read some passages about ancient China

To make students learn how to write an passage about person in English

⒊ Aural-oral Approach with the help of the multi-media computer and the recorder

Teaching procedures（教学流程）:

Step 1：Quick revision

Some words we have learned yesterday

Step 2: Lead-in

At first show the students the picture of philosophers of ancient. Then design the following questions and ask the students to discuss them in groups:

show them some sentences and let them guess the meaning

Such as Reviewing the old and deducing(推论)the new makes a teacher.

温故而知新

This step is to warm up the students and raise their interests to speak English in class. Because all these questions are very close to the students’ daily life and studying

Step 3：Pre-reading

Teacher: Since you are interested in chinese culture, now let’s get to know some vocabulary and knowledge related to this.

To know more about Confucius, Mencius and Mozi, let’s come to the passage Philosophers of Ancient China!

Step 4: skim and then get the main idea of this paragraph
