Step I Revision

Recently, there is one thing making me upset.I am fatter than before.I’m so sad that I want to lose weight. I hope all of you can help me.One minute,and discuss with your deskmates.

Stop here.Who can help me?

If I want to lose weight,I should do exercise everyday/eat more vegetables and fruits/don’t eat junk food. Thank you for your advice.

When we give advice,we can use these three sentence patterns.You should/you will/the base verb.Now let’s read these sentences by using these phrases.like-----.

Step II Lead-in

Now let’s play a guessing game.How old do you think I am?

If I were 25,I would not get married.But now I have been married for 9 years.So I am not 25.

If I were 30,I would not drive the car.But now I can drive the car by myself.So I am not 30.

These expressions are opposite to the truth.We call it Subjunctive Mood.Do you know the meaning?Follow me to read it.

Step III Structure

What’s Subjunctive Mood?Read this explanation together.

(Turn to page143,part2,在if引导的非真实条件句中，谓语动词有以下三种形式。Read the table below quickly, find what the three situations are.

Let’s look.与现在事实相反的情况、与过去事实相反的情况、将来不大可能实现的事情。

(Look at the model sentences on the right.Read the first three.Each sentence is divided into 2 parts.If is the clause,the other is the main sentence.When you read ,circle all the verbs.

Let’s check it.In the first sentence,the verbs are----.next sentence,the verbs are------.In the last sentence, the verbs are -----.So, we can conclude,表示与现在事实相反时，在if从句中，谓语动词用过去时，be动词一般用were；在主句中，谓语动词用情态动词would/could加动词原形。我们还可以用情态动词might/should.

(Go on reading the next three sentences.Do the same as the first three.Circle all the verbs.Tell us what the verbs are.In the first sentence,the verbs are----.next sentence,the verbs are------.In the last sentence, the verbs are -----.Make a conclusion:表示与过去事实相反，if从句用过去完成时，主句用情态动词would/could加have加过去分词，还可以用情态动词might/should.

?Please read the last three sentences quickly.Do circle.Tell us what the verbs are.What conclusion do you get？表示将来不大可能实现的事情，if从句可以用过去时、should加动词原形、were to加动词原形，在主句中，谓语动词用情态动词would/could/might加动词原形。还可以用情态动词should.
