Many students h ave kn own some reading skills. But they don't really master them. In this lesson, I want to make students summarize the way of talking about “benefits”, thus making use of them in their writing.

(II) Level of knowledge

Although students know something about American senior high school life, their vocabulary is still limited, especially when writing something. Learning in a real environment will overcome the drawbacks of abstract knowledge.

(III) Psychological characteristics

Our students do have a desire for self-expression, but they are afraid of being laughed at, so we are supposed to encourage them to participate in class activities, and help lay the foundation for lifelong learning.

(I) The basis for teaching aims and demands

1. Knowledge and ability

a) The Ss can understand the content of the passage.

b) The student’ s read ing ability, especially their ability of summarizing something can be improved.

c) The Ss can hear, read, and use the main sentence patterns to express their thoughts in the proper situation.

d) Students c an get a better understanding of the importance of after-school activities.

2. Emotion and attitude

Make studen ts und erstand the meanings of their school life and make them treasure their school life and love their school.

Student s anal yze and learn more about the after-school activities of American students and use their own words to describe theirs.

Help students make practical use of the sentence structures of “benefits”, with which to write the letter of suggestions.
