The students have basically learned vocabulary related to the Renaissance in this module and known the reading passage well. With the familiar and popular topic, they are very interested in knowing more about the writing part. But they need to reinforce and develop their writing skills in terms of organization,content and advanced expressions. Besides, they lack the chance to put what they have learned into practice.

= 3 ﹨ ROMAN III . Three-Dimension Objectives

= 1 ﹨ roman i . Knowledge and Skills:

To put the words and phrases related to the Renaissance into practice freely and correctly.

To develop writing skills in terms of advanced expressions, organization, and content

To motivate interest in English and appreciate the importance of traditional Chinese culture in our life

= 2 ﹨ roman ii . Process and Method

1.Through autonomous learning, students will be able to develop their autonomous learning ability and get in touch with more vocabulary and phrases related to the Renaissance. What’s more, students are motivated to think autonomously in English.

2. Through group cooperative learning, students will be able to express their opinions with some vocabulary, phrases and sentence patterns that they have learned. Team work and team spirit can also be developed.

3. Through group competitive learning, students will be able to write independently and imitatively, develop writing skills and their critical thinking in English.

= 4 ﹨ ROMAN IV . Teaching Procedures

Warming-up(2mins)

Watch a video from a foreign teacher and introduce the topic

Design idea: The video can attract students and arouse their motivation and interest in the topic of traditional Chinese culture and lead the students directly to the topic.

Autonomous learning and Group Cooperative Learning(8mins)

Task I Words and Phrases

Design idea: Enable students to develop their autonomous learning ability and get students in touch with more vocabulary and phrases relating today’s topic. It also motivates students to think autonomously in English.

Task II No-finite verbs

Design idea:Enable students to learn non-finite verbs in certain language environment and learn to make use of them.

Task III Translation

Enable students to put what they’ve learnt into practice, exchange ideas with others and present what they have learned to other students.

Study a passage written by a student .Is it well written or not?(6mins)

Design idea: Enable the students to improve their writing ability in terms of organization, content and advanced expressions, and develop writing skills through peer assessment and the teacher’s instructions.
