Teaching procedures

Step I. Leading-in导入课题目标

Share some pictures about smartphone addiction to lead in the topic and teaching aims, arousing the students’ interest in listening to the BBC program.

Step 2. Listening and speaking 听说练习

Before listening: Get the students to know their tasks for listening.

While listening: let the students listen to the material from BBC program, picking out some information and summarizing the general idea.

After-listening: let the students discuss in groups to have a better understanding of the material and then voice their opinions.

Step 3. Self-learning detection自学检测

1.Dictation to check whether the students have mastered the relevant words and expressions through mind-map.

Sentence writing, using the relevant words and expressions to help the students have a better command of the vocabulary, training students’ input ability.

Step 4. Writing practice巩固提升-写作训练

Enable students to express themselves by organizing the sentences into a passage, developing students’ output ability.

Step 5. Homework assignment 作业

Review and strengthen the vocabulary learnt in class

Polish the composition

During the teaching, the students mostly had a good command of the target words and expressions by listening, speaking and writing; they could well understand the listening material and voice their opinions, improving practical abilities of listening, speaking and writing. However, I also found that a few of the students had some problems in using the target words and expressions to write sentences and essay.
