Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Lead in and introduction

The teacher starts the lesson by asking a student to recall the five senses mentioned in the previous periods and show another two words on the screen which have different parts of speech so that students can understand the meaning of “part of speech” and further understand those words.

Step 2 Grasp and practice (Activities 1to3)

Read the story “Fog” again, and find more words that have one than one part of speech and then ask students to fill in the blanks of parts A& B on page 6 to grasp the words given in the box.

Step 3 competition

Divide students into three groups. Each group should think of as many words as possible which have different parts of speech and then share the words with your classmates on the blackboard. The group which gets the most words wins.

Step 4 Brainstorming

Get students to think about as many words as possible to describe weather.

Step 5 Show and learn

Symbols of weather are introduced to students. The students can learn and remember better with the help of vivid pictures and the teacher will also introduce a way that some adjectives are formed. That is, we add “y” to some of the noun forms.

Step 6 Quiz

Show students some pictures and get each group to race to be the first to speak out the word according to the picture.

Step 7 Practice
