Step 1: Leading-in
Show ss some pictures about their beautiful school campus, and ask them some questions:
Are you familiar with the place? Where is it?
What do you think of the place?
Show ss some unpleasant pictures about their classroom, and ask:
Would you like to study in such a classroom?
Step 2: Picture-talking
Instruct students that environment plays an important role in our life. However, many disasters usually happen around us. Ask students to look at four pictures and answer the following questions:
Which of those problems are caused by nature? What might be their effects?
Can you think of other natural disasters that damage the environment? (flood / drought / typhoon / hurricane / sandstorm)
Besides air pollution and rubbish, can you think of other ways in which people damage the environment? (air pollution / water pollution)
Step3: Discussion and answer
Ask students to focus on the following table and try to fill it after discussion.

Step 4. Practice speaking and writing
Divide the whole class into several groups. Give them different assignments and finish them. Some of them are invited to present in class.
