模块八 Module VIII Appreciating literature and art《Reading(1):Appreciating literature》教案优质课下载

After learning this period, the students will be able to:

1. To gain some knowledge about some world-famous painters

2. To improve reading skills by participating in the activities designed

3. To learn to read a travelogue

Step 1 Lead-in (PPT2-11)

1) Play a clip of video show about the introduction to the film The Da Vinci’s Code (PPT) and ask two questions:

Which famous artist is mentioned in this short video?

Which his masterpieces are mentioned in the film?

2) Show them more pictures from Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet and so on, and talk with the students about their works and styles.

Note: In this part, the students are introduced to the topic today and encouraged to express their own opinions to improve their oral English)

Step 2 Skimming and scanning for general idea

Allow the students two or three minutes to go through the text quickly to find the answers to the questions in step2 and step3. And help the students to find out how the text is organized and how to grasp the main information quickly (PPT13-15).

Note:In this part, the students will finish the travelling route of the author and have a knowledge of the reading strategy of a travelogue.

Step 3 Careful reading for detailed information (PPT16-24)

Allow the students about five minutes to read through the text and complete step4 and step5. It is suggested that the students work in pairs to compare notes with each other about their answers to the questions.

Step4 Open-ended discussions (PPT25)

1. Suppose you have a chance to interview one of the artists, who would you prefer to interview and what questions would you prepare?

2. As we can see from Van Gogh’s experience, what do you think about the masters’ journey to success?

3. Do you think we need art museums? Why or why not?

4. Do you think art is important? Why or why not?

(Note: The students can choose one of the three topics and express their own opinions. At last, the students are asked to the front to do the presentation.)

第一步的设置能帮助学生进入本文的话题;通过第二步骤的快速阅读,能帮助学生迅速把握住文章主要内容以及文章结构,消除学生的紧张感和生疏感;第三步的细读及回答问题能更好地帮助学生把握内容细节。前面三个步骤的开展都是为了让学生走进课本内容,最后的讨论则是帮学生走出课本,利用已学的知识充分表达自己的思想,在此过程中认识到艺术在生活中的作用与地位。
