Step One: Lead in
Play the song starry night for the students and then share some pictures painted by themselves with them. Ask the students what types of painting their pictures belong to.
StepTwo: Five different types of painting
Let the students go through the five pictures of the welcome part and find out the five different types of painting: a mural, still lifes, abstract art, landscape and portraits.
Check whether they have grasped the five styles by asking them to match the picture with the correct style.
StepThree: Reading strategy: reading a travelogue
Have the student read the reading strategy part together and translate the word travelogue into Chinese.
Step Four: Fast Reading
Let the students go though the passage as quickly as possible to find out the route of their travel. Which cities did they visit and what museums did they visit on the way?
