Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Lead-in

Guide students to compare the following pairs of sentences and tell the difference between them.

They went to the park last Sunday. Did they go to the park last Sunday?

He likes to read newspaper articles about social problems. What does he like to read?

Step 2 Inversion in different cases

完全倒装

(1) 用于there be 句型

教室里有很多学生。

There are many students in the classroom.

在there be 结构中有时不用be, 而用表示类似“存在”或其他不及物动词, 如stand/ live/ lie/come/ appear/ seem /happen 等

There lives an old man in that village.

There lies a large wheat field in front of the house.

There seems no need to help that country.

(2) 句首状语引起完全倒装

“here（there，now，then）+不及物动词+主语”

以out，in，up，down，away等副词开头的句子里，以表示强调

①车来了。 Here _________________

②铃响了。 There_________________

③孩子们出去了。 Out__________________

注意:　当代词做主语时，主谓语序不变。

他来了。 Here he comes

（3）表示地点的介词或副词短语位于句首时，也常常引起全部倒装

On the top of the hill lies an old temple.
