Analysis of the target students:

Students of Senior 3 learned this unit in senior 1. They have got familiar with the topic-related vocabulary but some of them might have forgotten some words and expressions. And most of them may have some difficulty in using these words and expressions to describe festivals, especially our Chinese traditional festivals, which is a hot topic related to our traditional culture.

Teaching Objectives:

Knowledge and ability objectives:

After this lesson, students will be able to

1. use words and expressions in this unit correctly to complete the sentences and passage about the Chinese traditional festivals;

2. talk about the Chinese traditional festivals and their celebrations, using related words and expressions;

3. write an article on one of the Chinese traditional festivals “the Double Ninth Festival”, using the topic-related words and expressions we have reviewed.

Affective objectives:

After this lesson, students will learn to appreciate the Chinese traditional festivals and the Chinese culture. Meanwhile, students’ cooperative spirit will be strengthened.

Teaching Procedures:

I. Lead-in: View a video on the Spring Festival.

Show students’ mind maps on Chinese traditional festivals.

II. Review
