Share with students my own experience of bargaining and present what I said including some key words a bargain, to bargain, discount on the screen.

Step2.Group work (Task 1)

T hands out sheets with several seller’s words and buyer’s words in it to each group and asks students to understand these expressions and separate seller’s words from buyer’s ones.

Students work together and then T checks and gives brief explanation and emphasize something important.

Step3. Group work &Pair work (Task 2)

The conversations are in wrong order. Ask each group to put them in right order and try to act them out. (Different groups with different conversations so that students can share information.)

Step 4.Flea market time (Task 3)

1. Provided that students want to buy a book/an i-pad/some fruits…Ask students to make up a dialogue. One acts as a buyer to bargain with the seller.

2. Each group presents their performance and give them a like.

Step5.Consolidation

Share two sayings:

1. Try to bargain, or you are certain to be overcharged.

2. Never bargain with life, or you‘d better endeavor as long as you are alive.

Teaching reflection:

The original lesson belongs to listening, but I think it’s more practical for students to learn how to bargain in our daily life, so I plan this lesson into a task lesson but it’s a bit difficult for some students to make up a dialogue .More oral practice should be put into our daily lesson.
