Step1. Lead-in:

1.Play the cassette for the students to listen and enjoy the song:

I’ll become you after I grow up !

2.Ask questions about the song:

Do you like this song? Have you heard this song before? Do you know the name of the song? What kind of person does the word “you” refer to? (Teacher )

3.Discuss about the topic of “teachers”:

① As students, you must be very familiar with teachers. Then can you tell me what is a teacher? What does a teacher do?

② As a teacher, I like my job very much. I want to try my best to be a good teacher. To be a teacher is easy, but to be a good teacher isn’t that easy. In your eyes, what kind of teacher is a good teacher? Can you give me some advice? Just use some adjectives to describe a good teacher in your eyes.

③ Ok! I see. Thank you for your advice! A good teacher is very important to his/ her students. Because a good teacher can have great effects on his/ her students. Today we’ll learn a story about a good teacher and one of his students. Do you know who they are? ( Show their pictures to students. ) Yes. They’re Graham and Mr. Jenkins.

Many years ago, Graham was taught by Mr. Jenkins. He was greatly affected by his teacher Mr. Jenkins. He changed a lot with the help of his teacher Mr. Jenkins. What on earth happened between them? Let’s go and see.

Step2. Intensive-reading:

Please open your English books and turn to page40. Today we’ll learn Lesson3 Teachers.

Now look at the Reading part. There are two passages here. The first passage is Graham talked about his favourite teacher---Mr Jenkins. What kind of teacher was Mr Jenkins in Graham’s eyes? The second passage is Mr Jenkins talked about his favourite student---Graham. What kind of student was Graham in Mr Jenkins’ eyes? Please read the two passages intensively and fill in the chart on the whiteboard. I’ll give you a few minutes to be ready.
