教材

分析The central topic of this unit is “English around the world”. This unit seeks to give students a better understanding of how English developed and how it is spoken in the world. Students often hear “standard English”. In fact, there is no standard English at all which is the main idea of Using language-----Standard English and Dialects.

And In period IV, student will enjoy the entertainment in English learning and apply the target language actively. Besides they will know more about Standard English and dialects. Different languages have different kinds of dialects, so does English. There are many variants of saying things. Although there are many kinds of dialects, many Americans still recognize and understand each other’s dialects. Through the study of this period, students will grasp new words, phrases and understand some key sentence structures. At the same time, students will get to know two kinds of reading skills---fast reading and careful reading. And after the reading, students will realize that it is better for them to try to use standard English and speak Chinese Putonghua in their daily life.

学情

分析My students are first-grade students of senior high school. They have been learning English in junior high and have accumulated a certain number of vocabularies. They have mastered some simple learning strategies and skills. However, the differences in students’ personality and English proficiency are very large. So my teaching design should have gradient to meet the need of different students. Besides, by introducing the Chinese Putonghua and Baoji dialects, they will soon become more interested about this period. As for learning, Students will learn through individual reading, discussion and cooperating in the form of pair work.
