Step1. Lead in

Activity1. Students learn Dorian Murray’s story and his last wish and brainstorm some ideas to help him.

Q1. What can you do to help Dorian fulfill his last wish?

Activity2. Students read a short passage to see how other people in China help Dorian.

A few days ago while surfing the Internet, my classmates and I found that an American boy named Dorian was suffering from cancer. His last wish was to go to Great Wall and take photos there. We were concerned about Dorian’s health and wished we could do something to help him recover from his illness. We could at least help him realize his dream. On Saturday, we made a poster with the letter ‘D-strong’written on it. On Sunday, we went to the Great Wall. We took many photos while showing his posters. Our hope is that somehow from across the ocean Dorian can understand our love and this can bring him some small amount of happiness. In that evening, we sent him the photos along with our regards. Dorian recognized the Great Wall as soon as he saw the picture. He sent a letter to tell us that our pictures gave him one of his happiest moments during his treatment. He said his gratitude to us. We later posted Dorian’s story on WeChat Moments in order to encourage others to join in our relay of love and support. I hope Dorian lives the rest of his life to the fullest.
