Learn some words , phrases and sentence patterns
Learn about what is the whole passage talking about

The cognitive characteristics of students 学生认知特征：
a. Students have learned English for some years, so they have already kept some ability such as self-learning, and have the independent mind.
b. Compared with junior school students, they have a better understanding ability. They can absorb the knowledge quickly and come up with their own opinions.
2. Basic knowledge of students 学生知识基础：
Students have grasped many basic knowledge of English through their study in primary and junior high school. Especially during the three years in junior high school, the students have accumulated certain knowledge and made up a simple system of English knowledge. They have stored up a number of vocabularies and grammars, and also have many practices in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Therefore, they have the ability to study more and get further development.
3. Nonintellectual factor 非智力因素：
a. Students become more mature in mentality, they can concentrate on the class well. They have a good ability in self-control.
b. Confidence is an important thing, teacher must encourage the students more, don’t always blame students. Teacher should help students to build up the confidence, and let them love to study English.
c. Take care for the students’ emotion, pay attention to their thought.
