教材分析

The grammar item for this unit is the usage of the Subjunctive Mood in If unreal conditionals. The definition of the Subjunctive Mood was unfamiliar to the students as this grammar seldom appeared in the previous textbooks. As the starting point , this period is of great significance.

学情分析

All the students are from a science class in Senior Two and they tend to think logically. Most of the students don’t have a solid foundation in English, which may add to the difficulty in learning. To improve the efficiency, I have designed a few situations closely related to our everyday life. The question and answer session will be appealing and they may conclude the grammar rules through observation.

重点难点

To master how to adopt the Subjunctive Mood to describe things we wish to happen at present, in the past and in the future.

第一学时

Teaching Procedures

【导入】Step1 Lead-in and Explanation

Activity 1: listen to a song and answer the questions about it and the singer. Try to figure out what the Subjunctive Mood is.

【设计意图】 为了提高学生对将要出现的语法项目的兴趣,并让学生主动去思考虚拟语气的真实用途及定义。

【活动】Step2 Describe things at present

Activity 2: Watch two video clips and speak out sentences using “If I were---, I would/ could”.

【设计意图】通过观看视频,引发学生设想自己遇到这些情形会怎么办,从而无意识的使用到虚拟语气。

Activity3 :Look at the two pictures. Assume you are there and come up with solutions .

【设计意图】提供在主句中使用would/could/ might/should do 的语境,让学生对虚拟语气自然地形成印象。同时所选择的视觉材料旨在宣传社会公德,鼓励良好的行为习惯。

Activity 4: Observe the sentences given and find out the special verb forms.

【活动】Step 3 Describe things in the past

Activity 5: Reflect on your football match held last week. Discuss it and imagine an opposite result.

Activity 6: Listen to the short poem” We would have won” and read aloud.

【设计意图】为尽量创造真实的语境,挑选了学生最熟悉的学校生活场景,令学生表达对过去发生的事件的愿望和假设。

Activity7: Put forward the principle of describing wishes towards the past. Then make up sentences using”If I had done ---, I would have done --”.

【设计意图】通过留心观察,学生自己归纳出表示与过去事实相反的虚拟语气的语法规则,教师及时点拨。之后看图造句形象直观, 练熟知识点。
