Step I Lead-in
The teacher use a teacher’s dream to begin the class, then the students discuss the dream in pairs and answer the following questions :
If you have earned your income, how will you spend?
Do you prefer to spend more or save more? why?
The teacher gives an interview to a foreign teacher , through the video the students will know the foreign teacher ideas about this topic and also it is a model for real conversation.
Step II Reading
Task1.Skimming
The students read the text quickly and find the types of income earned.
Task2.Scanning
Read the text again carefully and finish the questions.
1.How are incomes earned divided?
2.Does disposable income include taxation?why?
3.Can you explain the difference between fixed expenditure and variable expenditure?
4.What are the four basic needs of human being?
Step III Post-reading
Use useful expressions to share your ideas.
On which of the four basic needs do people in your hometown spend most of their money?
Step IV Homework
Interview four people you know and find out what their fixed and variable expenditures are,then point out their similarities and differences.
