Present?the?title?of?the?lesson:“Unit1?Can?you?play?the?guitar??Section?A?Grammar?Focus—3c”?1.?Read?the?flashcards?.?

Present?pictures?of?balls?and?some?pictures?of?phrasal?verbs?on?the?screen,?and?ask“What?is?this?/What?can?he/she/they?do??”

2.?Read?the?phrases?on?the?blackboard.?

Point?to?the?phrases?on?the?blackboard?and?ask“Can?you?read?them?”?

Students read?the?phrases?aloud.

3.Present?the?sentence?pattern.?

I?can?play?basketball,too.?So?what?can?you?do?”?

Students?answer?one?by?one?like?this“I?can...”?

Show the sentences“I?can?….?He?can...?,?She?can...?”to students. Make sentences like this.

Students?make?sentences?one?by?one?like?this“I?can...?,?He?can...?,?She?can...”Work?in?groups.?Students?practice?the?sentences“I?can??,?she/he?can?”

4.?Read?the?pronouns?on?the?blackboard.?

Point?to?the?pronouns?on?the?blackboard?and?have?students?read?them.?

Read?the?pronouns?aloud.?

Put “can” between the phrases and pronouns.

Make sentences like “I?can?sing.”?Students?make?sentences?together.?

Show the use of can to students. Then let students explain how to use can themselves.
