Step1: Warming-up

Ask students to match pictures and sentences in group.

Check the answers.

Underline the words of the day

(Purposes: 1.Arouse Ss’interest.2.Elicit the topic.3.Involve the Ss)

Step2: Learn new words and phrases.

Use a timeline to make the students understand the meanings of the new words and phrases and learn to use them (the day before yesterday, yesterday, today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow).

Read words and phrases after the teacher, and then read by themselves.

(Purpose: Help the students know the differences of words and phrase more easily)

Step3: 1b-1c

Fill in the form with the correct dates.

Ask and answer about the dates according to the information in the form by using the pattern in pair.

— What’s today? — It’s Tuesday the19th.

— What was yesterday? — It was Monday the18th.

— What’s tomorrow? — It’s Wednesday the20th.

Role-play to show dialogues.

(Purposes: Help the students master the sentence patterns about asking dates. .And practice speaking skills)

Step4: 1d-1e Practice listening

Guide the students to look at the picture on the textbooks and catch some information about the listening material.

Listen and check.

Ask the students to look through the information of 1e. Try to understand their meanings.
