Moral aims:

Encourage Ss to love music and life.

Students analysis : students have learned about the present perfect tense, and they can tell the difference of “yet” and “already”. Students could talk their favorite writers or singers with the present perfect tense. The teacher should help them and encourage them.

Learning key and difficult points: Present perfect tense with already and yet

Learning Aids: a tape recorder, PPT

Learning methods: listening, speaking, pair work and group work.

Learning procedures:

Step 1 Greeting and lead-in

Greet students as usual and use the question “do you like music?” to lead students to the topic of this class.

Step 2 Presentation

The teacher talks about his favorite singer and enjoy the music with students, during the time the teacher presents the new words, the kinds of music and the feelings when listening to the songs.

T: My favorite singer is John Denvor, He plays country music. I always feel peaceful and relaxed when I listen to his songs. Do you want to listen to his song?

Step 3 Pairwork

Let Ss work in pairs and talk about their favorite singer or musician.(1a)

A: Who is your favorite singer?

B: My favorite singer ….

A: Why do you like him / her?

B: Because h e/ she….

Step 3 Listening

1. First ,tell students Alex and David are talking about a band ,then ask students to listen and find out which band is referred in the conversation.

2. Play the tape, Ss listen and write A for Alex and D for Dave. (1b)

3. Check the answers. Let Ss explain the chart. Then listen again and take notes. (1c)

4.Read the tapescripts and fill in the blanks together.

5. Let Ss introduce the band according to 1b and 1c.

Step 4 Groupwork

1. Ask Ss to ask their classmates and parents what kind of music they listen to and why, then fill in the chart.

2.Ask one of each group to give a report.

Step 5 Summary

Ask students to summarize what they’ve learned in this period.
