教学过程

Step1 Leading in

T;Hello,boys and girls,From now on ,you are a ninth grader. I wish you a great success this year.

If there is an English test tomorrow, please tell me how you study for it. Then show some pictures

On PPT and help the students talk about them and learn to say ‘by+doing” phrases.

Step2 Practice 1a---1c

1a.Ask the students to complete it individually first, then check answers

1b.Play the recording for the students to listen and complete it. Play it again and check the answers .

1c. Ask two students to read the conversation in 1c to the class. Then ask them to do the pair work to make other conversations .Then ask some pairs to present their conversations to the class.

Step3 Listening 2a---2b

Tell the students to read the questions in 2a.Make sure they can under the meaning of each question.Then the students listen and check the questions they hear,Play the tape 3times and check the answers.

2.Ask the students to read the sentences in 2b individually.Listen and match each answer with a question in 2a. Give them enough time to complete it.

Step4 Pair work

Ask two or three pairs to read the model conversation to the class. Then ask the students to do the pair work to their own conversations using the information in 2a and 2b.

Model:A:Have you ever studied with a group?

B:Yes,I have.I have learned a lot that way.

Then pick several pairs to present their conversations to the class.

Step5 Role-play the conversation(2d)

T:Jack is talking about his study problem with Annie,What are his problems?What suggestions does Annie give him? Ask the students to read the conversation individually and find the answers:Jack has to finishing reading a book and give a report,but he is a very slow reader.

The suggestions that Annie gives him: read quickly to get the main ideas at first/read word groups/try to guess the meaning of a word by reading the sentences before and after it /read something he enjoys everyday/…..

2 Play the tape for students to listen to and repeat the conversation. Ask the students to pay more

Attention to the pronunciation and intonation.

3 Let the students read the conversation in pairs and find out some useful expressions and language points in groups

4.In pairs,prepare to role—play the conversation. Then ask some pairs to act it out to the class.

Step6 Homework

Please choose one of them as your homework.

Listen to the tapes and read after them,and try to remember the new words and expressions of 1a—2d

Make a conversation according to the conversation of 2d
