Teaching procedure:

StepI Leading

There are always many outstanding persons who are changing the world and us.Such as Marx,Chairman Mao, Bill Gates and so on.Today we will meet another magic person who is well-known in physics.

StepII Guessing

Show the first picture of Hawking when he was a teen .Let students guess who he is.They possibly don’t get the right answer right away.Show the second picture of Hawking when he was in a wheelchair ,students must know the answer quickly.

StepIII Talking

Where was he from?

What was he?What’s his famous book?

Was he weak or storg?

Had Hawking been to China?

StepIV Reading

Do some reading about Hawking to know more details about him.Lead them to know Hawking step by step.

Give them some minutes to read quickly and carefully.Ask them to answer the following questions by underlining in the passage.

Check the answers by asking.

Lead the students to retell the passage in oral.

StepV Analysing

After reading someing about Hawking,let us turn the retelling into a small passage.

Analyse how to write an introduction about a person.Explain the procedure clearly to make sure each student knows the structure of this passage.

StepVI Writing

Ask three students to come to the blackboard and each student writes one paragraphy.

The others are divided into some groups to write the passage.Four students in a group,the first student writes the first paragraphy,the second and the third students should write the second paragraphy,the last student writes the third paragraphy.They shoud work together to write the whole passage.

Walk around the classroom and give them some help.
