Step IIl Presentation

Show the class a picture of a girl called Candy , ask two questions: What did Candy used to be like? / How did she deal with her shyness?

2. Work in groups to read and translate the article.(3 minutes)

Step IV Teaching Tasks

1.Task One (Pair work):

(1) Skim the article and identify the paragraphs in which the following information appears. Number the information (1--3)

(2) Match the pictures with the phrases. Show the students six pictures about the phrases in 3a.

(3) Ask the students to talk about the pictures in pairs and match them.

2.Task Two:

(1) Show the students the article again, and fill in the blanks according to the article.

(2) Ask a group of students to ask questions about this article . Then tell some important points to you all.(take a sentence for example)

Did Candy used to be outgoing?

How did she deal with her shyness?

What is required if you want to succeed?

What did you use to be afraid of ? How did you deal with it ?......

3.Task Three(Pair work):

(1) Get the students to fill in the blanks and practice the dialogs in 3b

(2). Ask several pairs to present their answers

(3) Choose the best pair.

4. Task Four (Group work): A survey

(1) Show the students a form about the activities.

(2) Get the students to fill in the blanks .

(3) Get the students to ask their classmates and fill in the blanks about “My classmate”.

(4) Ask the students to ask questions like this:

What did you use to eat?/ What do you eat now?

(5) Let two or three groups present their results.

(6) Which is the best group?

5.Task five: Homework—write an essay about the changes of your family member.
