Step 1. Greetings & lead in

A chant.(Say hello to each other in this way.)

2.T:Look at this picture,who is he? what is he doing?

Ss: He is Peter. I think he is dancing. / I think he is cleaning his shoe… .

T: Whose answer is right? Now read the dialogue and find out the answer.

设计意图:利用chant开课,缓解学生紧张情绪,让学生看图猜测,激活学生的思维,激发学习兴趣,为新知的呈现做好铺垫。

Step 2. Presentation and practice呈现与操练

1.T:(指生回答)Yes, you’re right.Peter is learning some sign language. 师讲解“sign language”,鼓励学生用“language”造句。

2.T:Who always uses sign language in our daily life?

引入单词“deaf”的教学。

3. Read and discuss. 细读对话,合作讨论问题

a. Why is Peter so late today?

b. Was it easy for Peter to help a deaf man? Why?

c. Why does Peter want to learn some sign language?
