II. New concepts :

1.Listen and say

(1)T: Look at me ,what’s this?Ss: paper.T:And this is the scissors. What am I doing now? Ss: You are cutting paper. T: We call it paper cutting. Show PPT and say: Chinese paper cutting art is great .People can cut out many pictures from paper, such as mouse, ox…(students say the animal’s name together.)

(2)Look at the picture and ask and answer in pairs. A: What’s the animal sign? B:It’s snake/mouse/dragon…Pay attention to the sound of dragon -----a.

(3)Talk with your partner :T: My animal sign is Ox. A: What’s your animal sign? My animal sign is …

(4)Let’s chant: Animal sign, animal sign, what’s your animal sign? (show the animal sign and say) Dragon, dragon, dragon, my animal sign is dragon.(Say the sentences together and let one of them answer.)

(5)Listen to the conversation and answer :What’s the man’s animal sign? S: His animal sign is dragon.

(6)I was born in 1985 and my animal sign is Ox.When were you born? First,teach the word born (birthday-birth-born). Guess the meaning of it.Open your book to Page12 ,read silently and answer: When was the man born? He was born in 1980.

(9)Listen to the first part of the dialogue and read after it, teach the meaning of foreigners.Then ask what are they talking about?

2.Find your family members’ animal signs

(2) Find family members’ animal sign according to the picture

3.Read, write and report

(1) Read this part freely and let the students answer the following questions: When was the boy born ? What’s the boy’s animal sign?

(2) Read the sentence” In China, a dragon stands for power.”Teach the meaning of it. Read it.

(3)Fill in the blanks according to the information of the second part. Then show this part with your partner.
