To help Ss understand the whole dialogue. Master the words and apply the key sentences:(“What a pretty Christmas tree!How nice they look! “)flexibly in this dialogue.

(1) Pay attention to the difficult words pronunciation, such as Merry Christmas, coloured lights, parents, presents.

(2)Pay attention to the long sentence’s pronunciation and intonation“Santa Claus comes down the chimney and puts presents in our stockings.”.

PPT, somthings made before class(Christmas tree, coloured lights, presents card …), some form cards, some sentence cards, Ss should prepare something that will be needed at Christmas.

Teaching procedures

Step 1. Pre-reading (5minutes)

Enjoy the video about “How to celebrate the Christmas”, and then have a free talk (Brain Storm) with your partner about this topic.

T: Now, first let’s enjoy a video about Christmas.

T: And then let’s have a free talk with your partner about Christmas. You can talk like this: When is Christmas? How can we celebrate Christmas? What things will we prepare?...

S: ...(Pair work)

Show the dialogue.

T: So I bring a Christmas tree here. I’ll divide you into two teams to have a competition, Team 1 and Team 2. Who is better, who can decorate the Christmas tree. And at the end of the class who has more presents is the winner.

S: OK.

Purpose: Enjoying the video can arouse Ss' interest of learning English. And free talk can broaden Ss' mind and help Ss understand the dialogue better.

Dividing into two teams to have a competition can arouse Ss’ emulation and can foster consciousness of good co-operation and proper competition.
