Task-based teaching

IV.Teaching procedure:

Step 1 Warming up

Teacher shows a riddle of calendar to the students.

2 Students find out the answer and teacher leads them to learn to cherish time and they will learn the names of the months on the calendar (two of the learning aims) .

Step 2 Presentation

1 Learning the months by themselves

(1)Teacher shows a video to students .

Students sing with the song together to learn the names of the months.

(2)Teacher shows another video to students to learn the short forms of the months .

(3)Teacher presents the full forms and the short forms of the months .Students find the special short forms of the months.

2. Learning the expressions of years

(1)Teacher shows some examples to teach them how to read the years

(2)Students are devided into groups to find the rules of reading years and teacher chooses one student to give the answer.

(3)Teacher presents the rules to students.

(3)Students show themselves (read some more years by themselves)

3. Learn the use of “be born”

(1)Teacher can say ,“Today is my birthday,I was born in March,1980. I was born in Huixian”, leading the students to pay attention to the key sentences. Teacher should write them on the blackboard.

(2)Teacher leads them to ask “When /Where were you born?”and writes them on the blackboard.

(3)According to the picture of J.K.rowling ,students practice the key sentences.

(4) Students are devided into groups to use their own birthday dates to practice the key sentences and then show their outcomes.

Show themselves

1 Students listen to 1a and follow it.

2 Students read 1a and answer the questions“When /Where was he born?”.

3 Students act out the dialog.

4 Students are divided into groups to find out the useful expressions.
