Teaching course:

Step 1 Warm-up

Chant “Left foot, right foot, go straight on, turn left/right”

?Step 2 Presentation

1. Copy the model of traffic police directing traffic and ask the Ss “What am I?” (You are a policewoman.) Do you know what I mean? According to the actions, the Ss answer “Turn left. Turn right. Go straight on. Stop! ”

In order to our safety, on the road we not only obey traffic police’s order but also understand lots of traffic signs.

2. This lesson we’ll continue learning Imperative sentences by knowing traffic signs. Now please turn page 40 and look at Part 1.Disscus “What’s the meaning of each picture?” in fours.

3. Hold up cards. Have the Ss say the meaning of each card in Chinese.

Write each sentence on the Bb.

4. Teach new words and unfamiliar words to the Ss. Then have them read together.

Step 3 Practice

1. Practice in groups. (Give the cards to the Ss in the front row.)

2. Have a competition in four groups. (Let’s see which group is best.)

Step 4 Listening practice

1. Books open. Get the Ss to listen and point to the right picture.

2. Listen and repeat. When listening to the sentence, the student owned the card holds it up, the others read aloud.

Step 5 Consolidation

1. Have the Ss read and write the number. Then check the answer. Ask eight Ss to answer.

2. Invite a student to act traffic police. Tell him to do the following three actions. ·Stop! Don’t go! ·Go straight on! ·Turn left! When he does each action, have class say what it means in English. Then ask one student to come to the front to find out the card and put it up on the Bb next to the sentence.
